This Little Light of Mine

We are staying safe and busy with lots of crafts and fun activities at home over the spring break. On Tuesday, we gave new life to our old candles by shaving wax off, then melting and pouring it into brand new molds! As a bonus we enjoyed a candle-light dinner with the scents of Sandalwood and Sea Breeze!

A rickety-racquety summer

Despite the boot and the after-effects of the fracture, we made the most of it where we could. The kiddos continued to pursue their brand new passion for racquet sports with dad while I happily cheered from the sidelines. The summer was full of tennis, badminton and ping pong play. Here's a sampling.

I love you too

It's the simplest gestures that often touch us the most. Thanks for saying "I love you" out of the blue (pun intended).

I love you too, Shoo!

Family Science Evening at the Library!

Wow! Now that I'm writing about this stuff, I realize that a lot happens in a week. We went for a family science event on Monday where we had a few activities to complete as a family.

Shoo came up with an awesome design for balancing a minimum of 2 jellybeans on one's nose and carrying it to the front desk!

Boog's windmill design to roll a string with a coin attached to the end was so impressive that I heard other families copying his design!

Of course, we had our own Math whizzes at hand to get through the Math problems!

And yes, Shoo has been in boots and crutches this week, thanks to his fall at the Rose Garden on Mother's Day!

Fourteen Years of Fun!

This week we also celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary! I've been a couch potato for the last 5+ weeks and the doctor just granted me permission to use hiking boots at home.

With my new found freedom, I decided to cook dinner at home. Shoo and Boog were excited to help and lent a hand with the Enchiladas and Salsas. Boog made the Guacamole almost single-handedly!

Here's our lovely food from the night!

A Rollercoaster Ride for Mother's Day

It started out as a simple day. I was just hoping to spend some quality time with the kiddos and get treated to a nice breakfast :)

At first, the boys were really not interested in celebrating or giving the day any significance :( After a bit of hurt feelings, I did get two lovely cards from my babies. We went out for a late lunch at The Loving Hut and shared a Tiramisu cake.

But the best part of day was definitely them wheeling me around the store and then the Rose Garden.

Who could ask for more!

And just like that, I have a new super power!!

Boog has been out camping for 2 days with his class. Boy, are we excited that he's coming today!!

He's been into the 2x2 Rubik's cube lately and since we were missing him, Shoo decided it'd be great to surprise him with a solved 3x3 cube.

So, last afternoon, we picked up a 3x3 and started our journey with some easy-to-follow visuals at https://www.youcandothecube.com/solve-it/3-x-3-solution. The problem is our cube just wouldn't cooperate! I have to admit, our initial challenge was more about who could go longer without wondering out loud if this cube had been tampered with!!

But bit by bit, we got familiar with the cube and its nature. Finally, with one other set of instructions at https://ruwix.com/the-rubiks-cube/how-to-solve-the-rubiks-cube-beginners-method/step-5-swap-yellow-edges/, I managed to solve the Rube a bit before midnight!!

Shoo has packed it in his backpack today to surprise Boog. Let's see how it goes. Our guess is he's going to say, "Seriously! Did you peel off the stickers?"

A New Chapter Begins

While I struggle to land back on my feet, literally (I have a fractured foot!) and figuratively (I just quit my 20 year corporate job to try something more entrepreneurial!), I hope the flexibility of my new work allows me a bit more time to document our family adventures!

Travels, experiments, cooking, local adventures and such!

Protecting original content online

After doing quite some research online today, I've settled on myows.com to get certification for original content (poetry, articles etc.). In addition I will follow some tips from the following articles:

How To Protect Your Blog From Content Thieves

Catching Copycats: Protecting Your Online Content

I hope this info is useful for Pi and Kitts in protecting their short stories and photography respectively. GG, have you been writing any poetry that you'd like to publish online? I'm going to create a section for that on this blog. I've finally decided to come out of my shell and publish some.
